This blog was not made for me to focus on my writing or to improve my communications skills or anything like that. It's just me having a place to jot down my random, scrambled thoughts and upload a few of my photos.

"Just Call Me Uncle"

Well, my last post was absolute rubbish. It was boring and dry and annoying. Oh well, this is a new post with new thoughts.

First I must say, I have the best mom in the world. No, really, I do. I've been sick with Malaria for about ten days, and she has done everything possible to try to help me feel better. She has run errands, fixed food, slept in my room, run all over the house getting things for me, gotten up at 5:30 AM to give me medicine, calmed me down when I freaked out about getting my blood drawn, and probably like a vigintillion other things that I'm forgetting. So here's a thank you to all moms, my mom in particular, for everything you do.

So having Malaria is no fun, let's just establish that. But I got some people at the CDC in Dallas pretty freaked out, and one guy from somewhere became very distraught when he heard I hadn't been hospitalized, which I thought was kind of funny. Also, I am now a statistic, as there are normally less than 1,500 people in the US that contract Malaria in a year. And for the record, my highest fever has been 105.4, and so far I have lost about seven pounds, which means that my jeans and shorts won't stay on. Oops.

I will now proceed to tell you ten happy things because all that stuff up there sounds pretty dreary and depressing. And maybe because I'm slightly introverted and like making lists.

1. I had waffles for breakfast.
2. I watched Julie & Julia for the first time today and absolutely loved it.
3. My dad is cleaning out his closet.
4. Our house is decorated for Christmas.
5. My little sister is going to a wedding for the first time.
6. There is a cat sleeping on my bed.
7. I put a Superman silly band (courtesy of my best friend) on my key ring.
8. I'm wearing a shirt & cardigan that both have hot pink stripes on them.
9. They don't match at all.
10.I can hear wind chimes.

Autumn Leaves are Falling

Welcome to 60˚ weather, colorful trees, and fires; that wonderful time of the year we affectionately dub Fall.

Unfortunately, I am not outside enjoying the weather or diligently working on my paper that's due after Thanksgiving Break. I am lying in bed with a thermometer in my mouth, waiting to see if my fever has left for good yet. But as I have nowhere to go, I've been spending my days lazing about and stalking people on flickr.

I wish it were still summer.

Not Much to Say...

Hi, it's me. Yeah, I'm back. I didn't write at all in August. Oh well.

I think this is the best picture I have ever taken. I can't get over her.
Wow blogspot's photo quality is sooo much better than facebook's, but flickr takes the cake.

Village of Hope

As always, I don't have much time to post this because I'm on a tight schedule today (okay, the rest of this month would be more like it). I'm leaving in nine days to go on my mission trip to Uganda. I'd love to post more information about it on here sometime, but for now here's my prayer calendar - we need all the prayer support we can get. :)

Rainy Day

It's raining outside.
It's raining in my picture.
And it's raining on my flickr.

Happy Holiday Weekend

It's the weekend of the Fourth of July. Why don't we just call it what it is; Independence Day, instead of calling it by the name of its date?

Not too much news. I had a great sleepover this week with my good friend Sarah, who is also a photographer, and all we did was eat, breathe, sleep, and take/edit pictures. Fun stuff. :) Then today my dad came home after being gone for almost two weeks and finally opened his new iPhone (which has been sitting on his desk waiting for him) so I got his old one, which is a 3G. More fun stuff.

Editing, Editing, Editing

I love editing. It's sometimes more fun than taking the actual picture. I'm not quite sure how much I like my 365 for today, but here's the steps I took to make this picture.

This is the original. See? Not much focus, not great contrast or very good colors. I almost deleted it because it wasn't focused well at all. Butttt I figured I'd edit it a tad bit before I gave up on it completely.

Version numero dos, edited with my simple but wonderful iPhoto tools. Looks very, well, edited but I really liked the tone.

Then I decided I wanted to try something in Pixelmator with my picture. I tried some stuff, but then I decided that the window had got to go. So it went with Picnik.

I added a texture and a rainbow gradient, messed around for a looooooooong time with the opacity and layering effects, and this is what I got. So which picture do you like best? I think my favorite might be the second, but I can't decide.

Haha I just realized that this post and the previous one both have three repeating words as their titles. Way to be creative, Amy.

Bokeh & Blanket

I don't really have anything to say. I just needed to post this so everyone could see this picture in full quality. I LOVE THIS PICTURE. That's it. The end.

Oh yeah and this post has its name for a reason - Bokeh: a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image. Example: The bokeh, or quality of the blurred image in the photograph, was described and discussed. Which is basically the little blurry circles you see in this picture. :) Also, the flower is an Indian Blanket Flower. So.

Time

I think this is the first time I've named my post before writing it.

One thing i must say before writing what I really wanted to say: Miley Cyrus is now officially a person to be worried about and prayed for. I watched her new music video I Can't Be Tamed and I was very disappointed in the darkness and weirdness of it. Good-bye childrens' role model, hello tabloid gossip. LATER: I just watched Ke$sha's Tik Tok music video, and that was absolutely depressing. Especially because there are probably so many teenagers that are living that way. HAPPY PLACE HAPPY PLACE.

Basically, I just wanted to stop and rejoice for a moment for having lots of time today, and pretty much the entirety of this week. All last week and the week before, I was scrambling to get out the door before nine, every single day, then I was staying up trying to finish things every night. Today has been quite the opposite.

I got up late (ten - I know some of you don't call that late but I do!), had a blueberry muffin for breakfast, and actually took time to read Sunday's comics. All of them. I don't even remember the last time I last read the whole comics section, not that I really care about them. It's just the luxury of having time to read them that makes me happy about that. I also stayed in my pajamas most of the day, and just loafed around the house in them. My shirt was even inside-out, but there was nobody to see it, so who cared? After breakfast I stretched out on my bed with one of our cats and caught up on my Bible study. For lunch I ate my leftovers from a Mexican restaurant we ate at the other night (my mom was also threatening to throw them away). I was so lazy and so removed from having a schedule that I've had my phone off since seeing a movie sunday night, and only remembered to turn it back on around three this afternoon. This afternoon, I went swimming and running, and then ordered a pizza with my sister for the first time without our parents' knowledge or help (or money), which was quite exciting.

Now you're probably thinking, Amy, if you've had so much time today, then why are you still up at 11:45 PM, writing this? Why didn't you do that earlier? The answer is this: I have no idea. Maybe because I'm lazy and still have a small portion of my Bible study to do before tomorrow, maybe because I had the sudden urge to make a bracelet and just finished making one, maybe because I've been wasting time listening to Idinia Menzel and Willemijn Verkaik singing Defying Gravity on YouTube and I replayed it three times, or maybe it's because somewhow I always find ways to stay up late.

So it's Night....

.... Yup.

I am a goldfish, living in a bowl filled 30% with stress, 30% fun, 10% chaos, 30% sleep deprivation, and I guess all percent God.

I went to the mall today with some friends, but I've been so tired today that I almost turned around and went back home (so I could go back to sleep!) as soon as I got there. I drove over an hour today though, so only 12 hours left before I can get my license. :)

Here's my 365 for today. It's not perfect, but if I had like three more free hours, I could make this so much better. But I don't have three more hours tonight. So I'm not. Goodnight.

Hey hey hey, I've been blogging over a month! Okay goodnight for reals now.

Don't forget.

I Like Life

Soooo I had a lot of stuff written in my "new post" box, but then I decided I was getting too detailed and really boring, so I deleted it all and started over. Yes, I'm a perfectionist, now shut up. :)

I had another very long day of physics labs and I felt extremely uninspirational uncreative afterwards, but I ended up really liking my picture for my 365 today. You should visit my flickr and view my picture. Like, now.

I actually ended up liking this picture a little more than my 365 picture, but oh well, I'll just put it up here and leave my 365 alone.

I also really like this picture for different reasons. For one, all the different little things I stuck in it such as my old pink converse (my favorite shoes), wildflowers in my shoes (I lovelovelove wildflowers) my earbuds (I really love listening to good music), a ladder (I love heights but I'm nervous around ladders), my physics books, calculator, and nerd glasses (which kind of sum up my past two weeks of labs). And my face looks bored (but that was on accident, I think I was concentrating too hard) Yup. Hmmm, there's a lot of love up there ^ .

Summer, sorta kinda

Sooooo I'm on my 5th day of my 365 and already I'm falling behind. Oh well, now I know that it will be a bit of a challenge to keep up with it, which is good, because I hate becoming lazy in the summer (even though I am often so negligent when there's no school).

Speaking of summer, it's almost, almost here! I just have two tests to take and one more week of physics labs, then I'm free!!!! :)

In case you're wondering where exactly my 365 has wandered off to, check out my flickr. :)

We had a cookout with some of our wonderful neighbors this evening, here's just one of the photos I took of the kids in the pool.

This is Betsy, and she is just about the most adorable thing ever created.

Six Flags & Kittens

Tenth post; five followers. :)

Six Flags again today - wow, huge difference between today and last week. The lines were sooooooooo much longer today which meant not riding as much, then it started raining lightly so all the big rides shut down. Oh well. I rode Mr. Freeze in the front for the first time though - totally worth the wait. Now I'm really tired.

Wow my thoughts look so disjointed right now.

One of my best friend's cats had kittens this week. <3

Days, Weeks, Years

When did my week become so gloriously fun? :)

Wednesday: cram as much geometry in as I can, do some science, then attending the opening of WICKED!!! AAAAAAAH! My favorite play/musical/whatever. :)
Thursday: Six Flags (again, just went last Wednesday) all day. :)
Friday - Monday: Going up to Oklahoma with my best friend to her family's ranch. :)
Then my two week long physics labs start. Blaaaaahhhh.
I'll let you know if I survive.

And today was a good day too. Because I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some really colorful fake flowers, a stop sign, and a drawer knob. Because I just bought new music. Because I got a lot of driving in. Because I got ice cream and banana chips.

I've been thinking about doing a 365 project for a while. Annnnnddd I've decided that I want to do a 365 photo project (take a picture and upload it everyday for a year) as well as a 365 Bible project (read it in a year). They'll both start on June 1st. I'm excited. It'll fun, but a challenge at the same time. I'm not the best about staying on top of things. =P

NOTE: I will be gone all day tomorrow (the first of June) sooooo I'll probably end up just uploading two photos on the second (I know, it's a really lame start). But I WILL start with my Bible 365 tomorrow morning. :) - May 31st.

How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee;
In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife.
In five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes;
How do you measure a year in the life?
How about love?

Okay so these are old but it felt wrong not uploading a picture with my post. I do love these though. :)

Nothing Exciting...

but still pretty wonderful.

Okaaayyyy, so I have no wonderful or exciting thoughts right now (when do I ever on here?), but I have a bunch of pictures that I'm really happy about that I have to post RIGHT NOW! :) Wow that smiley's creepy. Anyway.

10 Thoughts at the Moment
1. My laptop's screen is a little too bright. I must darken it.
2. There, that's much better.
3. I like the sound that those toy lightsabers make. I said they were enthralling, though I'm not quite sure that's a good word to use.
4. I had chips and salsa for dinner.
5. Hey! I just realized that my skin didn't react allergically to sitting in the grass all day! Huzzah!
6. I have never seen Annie all the way through. :(
7. My bed is really messy. Note to self: clean bed after blog post.
8. I've never seen more than a minute of Lost in my life, nor do I intend to, so I'm not wallowing in sadness now that it's completed. Yay for never consistently watching any shows!
9. I just realized that I lost my pumpkin. Hmmm, I wonder where it went? Darn. I hate losing things.
10. I love the word dapper, but I don't think I've ever used it aloud.

Now for the photos! =D

Okay, now go look at this same picture on facebook (will work only if you're my friend). BIG difference! Facebook really brightened the colors.

P.S. I feel like watching The Incredibles!
P.P.S. I've used a lot of links in this post. Fun.
P.P.P.S. Yes, I used wikipedia for all of my links. Why? Because wikipedia's amazing, that's why.
P.P.P.P.S. A few years ago I decided to make/break the world record for the most P.S.'s in a letter. And I totally could. I just haven't yet.

And just in case you didn't know, P.S. stands for postscript and it came from the latin word scriptum. Wikipedia. :)

Less Than Twelve

Why am I writing a new post less than twelve hours after publishing a post? I have no idea. Because it's fun I guess?

I want to go to the library. I need new books to read.

I also need to clean my room. When my room's a mess, my life's a mess. The messiness of my room dictates my mood. Yay. Oh well, since my sister Courtney's not here, I can blast some August Rush music and whirl around the room picking stuff up. Or not. Instead I'm just sitting here. I want to clean out my closet too, but it's Courtney's stuff that needs cleaning out, not mine. That's depressing. I like clean closets. I like clean everything.

Hmm I feel like going to target. I want to get some more bobby pins, and I really want to get a sock monkey and take pictures of it. Courtney has sock monkey slippers, but that's not the same.

Higgledy Piggledy

Because it was funny and that's how my room and I feel right now.

I also feel like writing in all lower caps but that will bug me later, so I'm taking care of the caps right now. How responsible. Or stupid.

I'm soooooooo tired right now but I don't feel like going to bed yet. Why do I always feel that way? Yesterday I went to Six Flags with a bunch my friends, and I was very happy that I rode all the roller coasters (most of them multiple times), except for Judge Roy Scream, and that doesn't really count. We stayed from opening until closing and then I was up late last night, not being able to fall asleep because of all the vertigo. And today I had a calculator class all day, and that wiped my brain out.

I've decided that I get random and slightly irrational when I'm really tired. It's kind of funny.

One random thing about me; I really really really like brushing my teeth. I love the super clean feeling afterwards. It's lovely.

I hate trying to figure out my html coding when I mess up because I'm horrible at it.

"Cat Nap"

"It was more than a ring, however; it was an old key which looked as if it had been buried a long time."

Nobody's reading this stuff yet. I don't know if I care though, I don't even know if this is really worth reading. Oh well it may improve with time.
